On November 12, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the “2024 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Event” at the Seoul Samjung Hotel. This significant event saw participation from 68 companies that have benefitted from Samsung Electronics’ extensive technology sharing initiative. In 2023, Samsung Electronics offered a total of 231 technologies, successfully transferring 128 patents to 85 enterprises. Among the key patents shared were the “Route Recommendation Method,” designed to optimize travel routes based on both user biometric data such as heart rates and relevant geographical information, and the “Display Control Method,” which utilizes eye tracking to perform functions through simple eye movements. Furthermore, the “Wireless Network Access Method” highlights the innovative capability that enables seamless sharing of content between devices with a mere touch of a smartphone to an RFID tag on a smart television. Since initiating its technology sharing program in 2015, Samsung Electronics has made substantial contributions, transferring 1,210 patents to a total of 673 companies, amounting to a remarkable 6,808 technologies shared overall. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy noted that Samsung Electronics exemplifies superior performance in terms of both the volume of technologies shared and the number of beneficiary companies. In acknowledging this achievement, the Ministry remarked, “Samsung Electronics shows the most outstanding performance among participating institutions in terms of the cumulative number of technology provisions, the number of transferred technologies, and the number of beneficiary companies.” They aspire to continue supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to foster innovative growth through these sharing initiatives.
